Why We’re Creating a Paddleboarding Lake at Lodge Coppice
Here's why...

At Lodge Coppice Holiday Park, every decision we make starts with one simple question: how will this enhance the experience of those who call the park their holiday home?
Over the past few years, we’ve listened carefully to feedback from owners and families, observed how people use the park, and reflected on what modern countryside living means. That’s what led us to an exciting decision: the conversion of one of our fishing pools into a family-friendly paddleboarding and rowing lake, complete with a small beach area for relaxing by the water.
This isn’t about changing the character of Lodge Coppice. It’s about building on what’s already here, creating more ways for families to enjoy the outdoors together while preserving the peaceful woodland atmosphere we’re known for.
Encouraging Outdoor Play & Time Together
We all know how easily children (and adults) can become glued to screens. One of the biggest motivations behind this new lake is to encourage simple, joyful outdoor play.
Paddleboarding and rowing are wonderfully accessible activities. They don’t require loud motors or high speeds, just balance, curiosity, and a willingness to have a go. They allow children to be children again, splashing, laughing, learning new skills, and building confidence in a natural setting.
For families, it’s a chance to slow down and spend meaningful time together. Whether that’s paddling side by side or relaxing with a book on the beach, these moments are what holidays are really about.
The Mental Health Benefits of Being by Water
There’s something deeply calming about water, and science backs that up. Being outdoors, especially near lakes and woodland, has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and support overall mental wellbeing.
Our new paddleboarding and rowing lake is designed as a low-impact, tranquil space, where activity and relaxation sit comfortably side by side. Some days it might be full of laughter and movement; other days it will be a quiet place to pause, reflect, and breathe.
In a world that often feels fast and demanding, spaces like this matter. They help create a sense of balance – particularly for families, children, and anyone seeking a gentler pace of life during their time at Lodge Coppice.
Why Paddleboarding & Rowing Fit Lodge Coppice Perfectly
We were very conscious that any new facility must feel natural and in keeping with the park. Paddleboarding and rowing felt like the perfect fit.
They’re quiet, non-intrusive watersports that complement the surrounding woodland rather than overpower it. The addition of a small beach area creates a welcoming focal point — somewhere to sit, chat, and soak up the surroundings, even if you’re not heading out on the water.
This thoughtful approach ensures the lake enhances the park’s atmosphere rather than changing it — adding variety while protecting the calm, countryside feel that makes Lodge Coppice so special.
Part of a Wider Vision for the Park
The paddleboarding and rowing lake forms part of a broader programme of new facilities designed to enrich life at Lodge Coppice. Alongside the lake and beach, we’re also introducing:
•A new Event Pavilion for gatherings and community activities
•A Pump Track for bikes, scooters, and skateboards
•A Dog Agility Area for four-legged family members
•A Woodland Trail around the park’s edge
•A Sand Sports Court for volleyball and badminton
•A Cosy Arctic BBQ Cabin for year-round outdoor dining and social time
Each addition has been carefully planned to offer more ways to relax, play, and connect, without losing the peaceful woodland charm at the heart of Lodge Coppice.
Looking Ahead
We’re incredibly excited to see this space take shape and to watch families make it their own in the years to come.
Lodge Coppice has always been about creating a place where people feel at home, connected to nature, and part of a community. The new paddleboarding and rowing lake is another step forward in that journey, one we can’t wait to share with you.
